Meet Lewis Boyle: Painter, Decorator and Supervisor

Lewis is a talented painter and decorator, as well as a trusted Supervisor of teams across Bagnalls’ sites. He has been a part of the Bagnalls family for seven years, including a three-year-long apprenticeship.

What first attracted you to Bagnalls?

Lewis: I have always liked art and being creative – Bagnalls’ apprenticeship was the first course I found that I felt supported me in my creative outlook.

What did you do before you worked for Bagnalls?

Lewis: I joined Bagnalls straight away after finishing my time at school!

What is your favourite part of your job?

Lewis: The wide variation of work I’m able to get involved with, including painting and wallpapering, as well as the industrial side of things. I also love getting the opportunity to travel across the UK – I was able to visit Ireland with work, which was a great experience.

What is your biggest achievement at Bagnalls?

Lewis: Winning Apprentice of the Year in 2018! I also won a silver medal during the SkillBuild championship at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

Do you have any advice for those considering a career in the painting and decorating industry?

Lewis: If you’re hardworking with an open mind and willing to learn lots of new skills, the painting and decorating industry is for you!

How do you feel about your apprenticeship?

Lewis: It was great and very eventful! I participated in loads of competitions and even managed to complete training for the WorldSkills UK Skills Olympics in Scotland, with a view towards travelling to Shanghai.
